One of the most popular destinations in Spain is the Costa del Sol or the Sun Coast. There are several different “Costa”. Costa Brava in the north and Costa Blanca in the east but Costa del Sol stretching from Nerja, east of Malaga, to Estepona in the southwest has something very extraordinary … The coastline offers about everything you can wish – great beaches, big and small picturesque towns and villages, sights and food (we speak Andalusia and the world famous Tapas) not to mention the drinks … Sherry, Malaga Dulce and Vino in all shapes. There is really so much to see and do. Here, I would like to tell you more and give some tips.

1. CAMINITO DEL REY (The Kings path)
This is a trail built in a canyon hanging on the vertical mountain wall. It offers a spectacular experience with breathtaking views. It is located about 40 km north of Malaga next to a town called El Chorro. The easiest way to get to El Chorro is by car, but you can also go by train from Malaga. From El Chorro, buses depart every half-hour and they take you to the north end where you start the walk. It takes about 30 minutes to walk, from the restaurant where you get off the bus to the entrance. There you will be provided with a helmet and info. The walk along the canyon takes 45-60 minutes. BRING WATER. This is a one way path and you can only walk this direction, from the north to the south where you will return to El Chorro.
Buy tickets and bus ticket in advance online. It can be really booked up in summer time so book ahead of time, sometimes several weeks. Entrance costs, approximately, 10 €, bus 1.55 € and guided tour 8 €. Open for admission from 09:30 to 17:00.

In El Chorro there is a lovely restaurant and Hotel called “La Garganta”, go there for a meal or just something to drink on their terrace, you will enjoy it after a fabulous hike.
